Parliament Passes Cybercrimes Bill 2026 with Safeguards Against Deepfakes and Intimate Image Abuse
Malaysia's parliament has passed the Cybercrimes Bill 2026, introducing penalties for deepfakes and digitally manipulated intimate images. Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi stressed the legislation includes safeguards to protect citizens' fundamental rights and privacy.
