Japan Triples Departure Tax and Hikes Visa Fees in Bid to Manage Tourism Surge
Japan has tripled its departure tax to 3,000 yen per person and raised foreign visitor visa fees fivefold, effective July 1, as part of efforts to manage the pressures of record inbound tourism while reducing passport costs for Japanese nationals.
