Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil has called on MADANI Communities across Malaysia to play an active role in communicating accurate and verified information about government policies and achievements to the public. Speaking at the Jiwa MADANI programme in Kota Bharu on June 16, he stressed that spreading reliable government messaging should be a collective responsibility rather than shouldered by official agencies alone.
The minister pointed to recent policy wins that warrant wider public awareness. He highlighted food security initiatives maintained by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, which have kept rice supplies stable during festive periods. Additionally, he noted the Cooking Oil Price Stabilisation Scheme System (eCOSS) operated by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, which has improved accessibility to subsidised cooking oil at the consumer level.
"These are among the achievements under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim that must be communicated to the people by MADANI Communities," Fahmi stated. During the event, he formally handed appointment letters to Kelantan MADANI Community leaders for the 2026-2027 term.
To support these efforts, the Communications Ministry plans to hold regular briefing sessions with community leaders, keeping them updated on current policy matters and government initiatives suitable for grassroots communication. The Information Department (JAPEN) has been assigned to monitor MADANI Communities' performance and ensure they remain active and effective in distributing information locally.
Fahmi warned that underperforming MADANI Communities would face consequences. "We will ask JAPEN to act swiftly if any MADANI Community is found to be inactive. If that happens, we will make the necessary changes, including replacing those who are not performing," he stated, emphasising accountability within the network.
