Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has urged the nation to shift its focus toward attracting foreign investment and pursuing technological advancement through Artificial Intelligence and quantum computing, rather than becoming preoccupied with political rivalries. Speaking at the PH Grand Rally "Justice for the People of Johor" in Muar on June 15, Anwar stressed that positioning Malaysia as a competitive hub for these emerging technologies is essential for the prosperity of future generations.
The Prime Minister highlighted ongoing government initiatives to bring AI infrastructure and data centre investments to the country, drawing on insights from his recent mission to Japan where quantum computing technology was explored. These endeavours, he argued, will establish Malaysia as an economically resilient and technologically advanced nation.
Anwar expressed frustration with the current political climate, questioning why elected leaders continue to focus on divisive rhetoric rather than concrete development. "If politics is just about fighting day in and day out over Chinese, Malay, Indian, temples, and mosques, just endless bickering, when are we going to take care of this country?" he asked the crowd, alongside PKR Vice-President Datuk Seri Dr. Zaliha Mustafa and Johor PH Chairman Aminolhuda Hassan.
The PKR President and PH Chairman called upon all citizens to transcend ethnic and religious lines to collaborate in nation-building. He noted that international investor confidence in Malaysia is already strengthening, with businesses actively seeking opportunities without the need for extensive promotional campaigns.
Anwar further cautioned political leaders and parties against exploiting communal grievances for electoral gain, advocating instead for a unified commitment to addressing citizen welfare and societal development. He emphasised that effective politics requires an informed electorate that holds leaders accountable for tangible improvements rather than emotional manipulation.
